Gyms
Fight Club Gym is located three blocks from the beach in San Juan Del Dur. If you’re expecting a Gold’s Gym you might be disappointed. But for a small town in Central America the free weight selection and group fitness classes are excellent. There’s are Olympic bars, racks, kettle bells, bumper weights, dumbbells up to 60 pounds and a real boxing ring.
If you like that old school style it’s great for weight lifting.
Group fitness options at the gym are better than the cardio machines. So for cardio workouts drop into one of these classes, or run the beach in the morning or afternoon:)
The class options include CrossFit, Zumba, Boot Camp, Boxing, MMA & Ju Jitsu
The gym is not air conditioned. So do like the locals do and come in the morning or around sunset when it’s cooler.
Prices are very reasonable. Nicaraguans and permanent residents pay $20 a month including unlimited classes.
Drop in’s are $5 for the day, a week is $15 and the month is $30 if you’re down for a visit.

Surfing
With off-shore winds 300+ days a year Nicaragua is one of the most consistent surf destinations in the world. There are four solid breaks within 25 minutes of San Juan Del Sur: the beaches at Yankee, Hermosa, Remanso and Maderas.
The experts are more often at Maderas which can get a little crowded at times. It hosted the surf competition for the Central American Games. For easier waves to learn on, head to Remanso or Hermosa. The latter of which was the location for two seasons of the TV show Survivor.
Yoga
Zen Yoga is the most popular yoga studio in San Juan Del Sur. Located just off the Central Park it offers drop ins and monthly memberships.
Excellent international and local teachers provide classes 6 days a week. If you need a little zen in your beach life head down for a class.

Just like the gym most of these hikes are best in the early morning or late afternoon when its cooler and the breezes are stronger :)
